Our Mission

We seek to raise awareness of how individual food choices can impact the planet’s climate. The effect of animal agriculture on the environment is extreme and unsustainable. It not only adversely affects the environment but also increases food insecurity across the globe. Join the SEE team and take action to halt further degradation of our climate and prevent future starvation today!

Meat Consumption Is Hurting Our Planet

Do You Really Need Meat?

Though animal agriculture takes up 80% of the world’s land area, it only contributes to 20% of the global supply of calories. Most Americans consume far more protein from meat than nutrition experts recommend. According to Alain Ducasse, the famous chef with 21 Michelin Stars, “Vegetable protein is more than enough to satisfy the nutritional needs of an individual.” You clearly don’t need as much meat as you are eating.

70 billion animals are raised annually for human consumption, taking up 80% of global agricultural land. Also, 16% of global freshwater is dedicated to growing livestock. The demand for meat and dairy products is expected to rise, placing a massive burden on our Earth’s finite resources. There is but one solution to this problem—shifting to a plant-based meals as much as possible. After all, why kill an animal to get a burger—you can get one made from plants that are just as tasty and better for you!

A Healthier Alternative

“Let thy food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

– Hippocrates

Plants are rich in fiber which can help lower cholesterol, stabilize blood sugar, and is excellent for good bowel health. It also reduces the risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and mental illnesses.

Do You Really Need Meat?

A plant-based diet is not only the easiest and healthiest way to lose weight and keep it off, but all the ‘side effects’ are good ones,” says Dr. Barnard. “It’s a powerful way to turn conditions such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or type 2 diabetes around.” Dr. Neal Barnard is author, clinical researcher and founder of Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Be a Superhero!

The best part about shifting to a plant-based diet is knowing your diet choices protect the environment. Turning ranch land into forests will mitigate the effects of climate change and create new habitats and reduce water pollution. You don’t need to have a cape to be a superhero—you just need to choose to switch to delicious and healthy vegetables!

The Planet Bethesda festival returns to Elm Street Park on June 4, 2023, building on the success of the inaugural event in 2022. The food and music festival celebrates World Environment Day and the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle. A variety of vendors and local restaurants will offer innovative and multicultural plant-based cuisine. The festival will be held in conjunction with a National Alternative Dairy Month celebration and include a return of the popular plant-based pie eating contest, Bier Garten, Canine Courtyard, live entertainment, and free children’s activities.

Help support our cause

Why is it important to help.

Sustainable Earth Eating wants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by educating the public about  meat consumption’s impact on our climate.

We Love Animals. Just Not On our Plates.

You can help us spread the word by making a donation to SEE that is tax deductible.

Presently, we are teaching awareness classes in Montgomery County in after school. With every donation of $20.00 we can reach out and educate another 10 students.

Thank you for your contribution to help educate the public of food choice on climate change. Be the change!

This Memorial Day, honor veterans and also honor our planet

Many, if not most of us, will celebrate Memorial Day and warmer weather with food, friendship and outdoor and indoor gatherings-- often focused on grilling meat, barbecuing ribs or certainly burgers—as we honor our Nation’s veterans. It is a tradition in the United...
